ठण्ड , कपकपाती सर्द हवा, visibility भी कहीं खो रही थी, बाह्य से अंतर तक , सर्दी फ़ैल चुकी थी, फिर भी, जब में निकला , इसको छूने , इसको महसूस करने,  में भ्रम में था, या फिर अपनी , कल्पना  में, नित्य भांति उनका तनिक न बदला , सर्दी तो स्रंग्रिका थी उनके सोंदर्य का , वो अविचलित, खुद मशीन से , मशीनों पर काम कर रहे थे, अन्दर गर्माहट थी, पर मुझे कोई अलाव दिखाई न दिया,  लपटें तो मैंने भी महसूस की,  पर जो जल रहा था , इन मिथ्या नत्रों से में देख न पाया,  पे रुका थोड़ा ठहेरा , सर्दी का अस्तित्व कहाँ?  मेरा रोम - रोम ज्वलित हुआ,  कहाँ टिक पाया उस प्रचंड,  अनल के आगे , बाहर आ फिर थोड़ा , सचेत हुआ, अन्दर, सत्य की अंगीठी पर, सदभाव , परस्पर उदभाव, निष्ठा , मानवीय  संवेदनाएं , और खुद मानवता ........ हाँ, और कौन ,  इस मौसम के प्रोकोप से , मानव को बचाता , ये सब तो कब की मर गयी थी , अब इनकी चिता की गर्मी से, मानव खुद श्रस्थ्ता के दंभ को जीता है,  पर अग्नि तो अग्नि है,  मंद कभी , विकराल कभी,  अनंत शांत हो जाना है , क्यूँ न देख रहीं, हे मनुज ते...
